Hi GL, I've tried that - there is no option to enabled wireless sync for notes/contacts/memos... just email and cal

Browse All TopicsHi All,
I've been working on a BB bold issue in BES (BPS actually) for the past two days and frankly I'm sick of it. Heres the gist of it:
User broke his old BB Curve and we replaced it with a BB Bold (9000). I'm trying to move the user over to the new hand held via Enterprise Activation. Email and Cal are working fine, it's just the contacts/tasks/memo's that aren't syncing.
I've tried all the normal steps:
- Deleting then undeleting the DESKTOP[SYNC] (and all other desktop) service books. Syncing "passes" but still isn't there.
- Removed user from BES and started new
- Factory reset the Bold and started again
- Downgraded the phones OS
- Configured the BES server to debug logging (nothing of note - can see the sync happening but that could just be mail/cal)
- Tried using a new user with a fresh profile (to eliminated a corrupted task/memo/contact causing it)
- Tried disabling/enabling the hidden wireless sync service (Options > Adv. Options > Ent Act > Alt + CNFG)
- Tried contacting Telstra (They say they don't support Hyper-V environments. The guest OS is up to spec but they won't support a Hyper-V host)
Heres the environment:
- Hyper-v host hosting both the mail server and the BES server
- Exchange 2007
- BES version 4.1.4.17 (fully patched.)
Things of note:
- Strangely, the bold isn't reporting back to the BES its full details. The Network Type is 7, the Hardware ID is 0x0000000 and all the Platform versions etc are blank. These fields are populated on the curves in the organization. I did some reading and this list comes from C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader\Devices.x
- When opening Options menu in Contacts, the settings say "Wireless Synchronization: Not Available" and you can't change it. When opening the Tasks and Memos options there is no metion of Wireless Sync anywhere.
Cheers,
Matt

I've just had a look.... it's no-longer in the current Desktop Manager.
I guess they pulled it for BES users to prevent users changing settings without the IT approval?
Maybe download an older version to set it up?
Then try: http://supportforums.black

Failing all that, contact RIM about their KB15179
Hi GL,
Yeah I'm getting email and Cal so I am assuming the BES codes are correct. I checked the default services, I've got:
Calendar (CICAL): Desktop
Contact List (SYNC): Desktop
Messaging (CMIME): Desktop
I've also tried four previous BB versions and there is no way to enable Blackberry Wireless Sync for the services other than Cal. It's only got the Outlook/ACT! etc.
I had the same problem. Synced OK on desktop but wireless sync for Contacts was "Not Available'. On the BES under user settings "PIM Sync>Address Book>Synchronization enabled" was set to false, changed this and it worked OK.
Funny thing is that this was a replacement BOLD for the same user and the other one worked fine, never touched this setting.

I sometimes find an easier solution is to pug the device into a PC logged in as the user, open Outlook and the desktop Manager... and set the appropriate settings there
