And to be even more clear here is a guide:
Configuring your Blackberry to use
Outlook Web Access
You will be using
" BlackBerry Internet Service
" Microsoft Exchange
" Microsoft Outlook Web Access
Important: Some mobile phone service providers do not support integration with
all email account types - but most do. Contact your mobile phone service provider to verify that
Microsoft Outlook Web Access is supported.
Procedure
For BlackBerry Internet Service accounts, complete the following steps:
1. Navigate to the BlackBerry Internet Service web site (you may need to speak
to your mobile phone service provider to find out where your BlackBerry
Internet Service web site is and for them to set you up an account if you do,
you may as well ask them to set your Outlook Web Access Account up for you
for use with your blackberry otherwise carry on below).
You may be able to do this from the wizard on the handheld too.
2. Log in to your BlackBerry Internet Service account.
3. Click Setup Account.
4. Complete the Email address, Password, and Confirm password fields,
and click Next.
5. The following message is displayed: We were unable to configure <email
address>. Choose one of the following options and select Next.
6. Select I will provide the settings to add this email account and click
Next.
7. In the Outlook / Exchange section, select I can access my email
account using a Web Browser (Outlook Web Access), and click Next.
8. Type the Microsoft Outlook Web Access URL
https://www.example.com/ex
and fill out the required fields.
Note: The Email account field refers to your mailbox name
9. Click Next. The OWA account should appear in your list of integrated email
accounts.
The Blackberry devices are designed to be used with a BES or BIS.
If you don't like that, then send them back and get ActiveSync compatible devices. Windows Mobile, or one of the licensee holders. Purchasing the devices means you are buying in to the whole way that Blackberry works.
You don't buy a BMW and then ask BMW to fit a Mercedes engine.
Simon.
I'm not sure what you are asking now. If you follow the guide above you can have a pseudo-push blackberry solution using your OWA settings. The only thing required is that OWA is working for your users from outside the company via HTTPS.
If you are asking what you need to do the thing 100% properly then the answer is you need to run Blackberry Enterprise Server (or the cut down Blackberry Professional Server) inside your enterprise. You would get either from your airtime provider (at a purchase and licence cost) and you would also need to upgrade your BiS contract phones to BeS contract.

You use phones running blackberry Internet Service (BIS) and set up the user email accounts using the wizard. The first attempt will fail but after this it will ask more questions and this time you can say you use Exchnage/Outlook Web Access (OWA) and then give it your OWA settings and it will then poll the email account using OWA.
