ok, send my your emai number, your phones company and your country and i'll send you the code to unlock it. At villani.comis a program where you put your emai, your company and your coutry, and the unlock code is generated. Then you have to put this unlock code in the phone, and it unlocks.

The phone is normally locked if you enter the phone lock wrongly a number of times.

The IMEI code is a unique phone hardware level code using which the phone can be unlocked. The general manufacture idea is that a phone that is stolen can be locked to prevent misuse. The owner would typically take down the imei of the  phone and use that to get a master unlock code.

The websites that charge for the same are offering a paid service. Similar to email providers, some are free. Not necessarily illegal. The only difference would probably be the users legal rights in case something wrong happens.

IMHO it would be inappropriate to consider this to be phone hacking. Alternatively, a nokia service station should be the best way to get the phone unlocked. . .albeit for a small fee.

Cheers.

Could you please specify where am I in violation. The closest clause I could find was:

Planning illegal activities, such as creating computer viruses, building a bomb or counterfeiting money or pirating software, Serial Numbers of products for which you do not have a registered license.

which does not apply to my request because the service I am requesting is freely available at http://www.vilani.com. It's just that the site is not in English. If tehre is a clause that I have missed and applies to my request, please redirect me to it so that i am careful in the future.

Computer101 ,

I am still waiting for a response. Unlocking GSM phones is a service that is freely available on the web. I was able to find a freeware calculator to unlock any GSM phone and it worked fine for me. I would wait for 3 more days for a response and then award points to  'jonasito74'  for offering to help.

If you still find the requst in violation, please direct me to a specific instance in the members agreement and delete the question within 3 days.

I dont want to exploit the forum as the forum has been of great help to me and I am willing to understand and follow the rules.

Regards
