Browse All TopicsIm interested in this technology. Anyone have any experience with it? Ive read white papers at www.wimaxforum.org, www.wcai.com and a couple articles at wifi-planet but im looking for some other good resources.
from what I understand 802.16a or b cant supply mobile connections but they are developing this technology with 802.16e.

I was hoping to hear from some people that are using one form of 802.16 or is perhaps a member of one of the wimax forum.

that wi-fiplanet artilce was the one i read. they quote that a base station is $20,000. do you know of any companies that are listing these or have details on them ?

We have installed a WiLan product that is "802.16 compliant", or at least guaranteed to stay compliant as the standard settles out. You see, that's the problem-- you are just a bit early for talking to people actually using 802.16. There are a very few products, like the WiLan, that are taking advantage of the technologies defined in 802.16, but it won't fully settle and get reasonably priced until the chipset makers come out with cheap chipsets that the manufacturers will then design around-- should be a bit later this year. In the mean time, if you are hot to trot and pick something up, or read about real world capabilities, the WiLan is probably the best choice now. Pretty cool stuff alright.
