I have a Nokia 6600 phone that I wont to connect via Infrared to my PC using the PC-Suite for Nokia 6600 software.
I have installed english PC Suite for 6600 version 1.1.0 that I downloaded from Nokia downloads.
I also run english Office XP 2003 and english Windows XP with SP2, Avast AntiVirus on a Toshiba 4300 Satellite with >400MB RAM.
I cannot get it to work, mRouter connects, but always shows up "Unknown device (270513117)".
And PC-Suite always reports that there is no connection.
I have tried to reinstall, to run the Registry cleaner, install the Swedish version and many other "solutions" that I have found on the Internet.
There seem to be MANY pages & persons with this problem... But I have not had any success.
The most probably explanation I have found said that PC-Suite for 6600 is not compatible with XP+SP2 and that Nokia is expected to come up with a solution "soon".
If you search the net for "Nokia 6600" and 270513117 you'll see many other persons with the problem. Some "solutions" seem very odd (like changing all installed applications to Windows ME compatibility) but none worked for me so far.
Some solutions I have not been able to try, since I dont know how are:
is it possible to upgrade the "Nokia-installed" mRouter component only to a later (bug-free) version?
It seems the mRouter component does not reckognize the Nokia 6600 phone correctly (it says "Unknown device") but the built-in IR detects the device as a "6600 computer" correctly... why???
The Nokia "Registry Cleaner" that is referred to as a solution only cleans "a little" from the registry. Is there anywhere a list of what this "PC-Shite" package installes and any REAL cleaner???
phew... Please help anyone! Any ideas are welcome.
...heck - I'v probably reinstalled PC-Suite about 30 times already...
