Browse All TopicsI have recently purchased an Orange C600 handset with Windows Mobile 5.0 and includes AKU2 to enable Push E-mail.
I have setup my Exchange 2003 Server with Service Pack 2 to enable push e-mail, and when the device connected at first it asked me to add a PIN number in line with the policy I had setup. Active Sync performs a Sync when I turn the device on, and for the first few minutes when I receive an e-mail it pops up on the home screen as 'Outloook Email (1)' albeit with no notification sound played (it does play a sound when I do a manual sync).
After that, push e-mail doesn't seem to work, and I am not sure why. I have setup my firewall (ISA Server 2004) with increased timeouts of 30 minutes on the listener.
I think it might be a problem with GPRS disconnecting, the little 'G' on the antenna sign in the top right disappears after a few minutes, I think this may be because GPRS is disconnecting? I am not talking about the blue 'G' in a white square in the middle that indicates GPRS availability, this remains lit all the time.
So the problem is (I'm guessing) that the heartbeat is disconnecting due to a timeout in the connection, and then GPRS disconnects because there's no traffic, -OR-, GPRS is disconnecting by itself causing the hearbeat to disconnect.
Thanks in advance,
Andrew.

GPRS always on
If you want your GPRS (or EDGE) connection to always be on, set the following:
HKLM\Comm\ConnMgr\Provider
And to turn it off:
HKLM\Comm\ConnMgr\Provider
Note that |gprs connection name| will depend on the name you've given your GPRS connection
