The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Beginner seting up activesync to server!

Asked by uruguay96 in Handhelds and PDAs, Exchange Email Server, SBS Small Business Server

Alright, I have little to no experience with servers or activesync for that matter.  Well, a little but I have read most of the reports on this website and all of them are too complicated for me. (I just mention this so ya'll will take it easy on me with the explanations)

What I have:
SBS2003 with exchange working.
XP pro with activesync 4.5 installed.
cingular 8525 phone
DDNS finally set up and working
I don't know how to set up OWA and have not got it working yet(I hear that this is related somehow?)

What happens:
I try to sync from desktop computer.  I have input the settings of the exchange acount: myke.bcr.local , SSL is not checked(it doesn't work if it is), DOmain is BCR.local , I set it to sync with exchange's calendar and contacts, not the desktops then I let it run.  Sometimes the 8525 asks me to input password which i do, then after thinking for a heckuva long time it finally finishes. No error, it just says on the 8525 that it has never synced with exchange.

Question:
Am I going about syncing with the server the right way?
Do i need to open up a port on the server like I did for remote desktop or FTP?
Do i need to incorporate somehow the DDNS.  I have a host name that I use, like for my ftp, but I see no place to input that.
Any suggestions on what I could be doing wrong?

Other wierd happenings:
When activesync tries to create a connection with the 8525, activesync asks for a password and disconnects from the LAN, so it constantly disconnects/reconnects until I put a password in, then it stays on and doesn't seem to do that anymore.
