Size is important to some people, as well as the keyboard type ( Full or mini cell phone ).
YOU MAY HAVE TO see/feel before deciding.
I hope this helps !

Browse All TopicsHi there everyone,
I need some help picking a blackberry. I've never had one before.
I want to get the best blackberry for email, consistent internet access, coverage, and clear signal for talking/listening.
Can you all give me some suggestions? I was waiting for the CURVE, but have been reading that it doesn't support 3G networks, and this might be a problem.
I don't really care of music, camera, media, etc.
Also, which carrier do you recommend?
Thanks a lot!

The BlackBerry 8830 is the best all round device available at this point in time. The 8830 supports Dual-band 800/1900 Mhz CDMA2000 1X Ev-DO Networks & Dual-band 900/1800 Mhz GSM/GPRS.

The "Curve" is the Blackberry 8300
The biggest differences between the 8800 and 8300 are size, battery capacity and camera.
The 8800 uses the better Series C-X2 "green" 1400mAh battery and is slightly bigger than the 8300 but, does not have a camera.

The 8300 uses the lower capacity C-S2 "blue" 1100mAh battery, has a more compact size and a fairly decent 2mp camera with zoom and built-in flash.

Definitely avoid the "Pearl" the keyboard is horribly awkward to use.
You really have to walk into your local service provider store and try out each of the phones to see how comfortable you are with them. All Blackberry phones have a major weakness in their software that Palm & Windows CE converts have a lot of difficulty adjusting to; you can't simply add phone numbers from your incoming log to an existing contact and adding information to existing contacts in the addressbook is more complicated than the Palm and Windows CE devices.
The local AT&T/Cingular store I use is quite used to me coming in to "test" new phones. I set it up on my account & try it for a couple weeks to see if I like it. Some have been stinkers & were quickly returned and swapped with another phone to try for a couple weeks.
Blackberry has a TRADE-UP program if you act quickly and have an existing PDA or applicable phone available as a trade-in. They have a long list of acceptable trade-in devices. The trade-in cash amount varies by device. The program ends June 30, 2007

I sent in a Palm Treo 700w I had in my desk and received a check for $240. Not bad when you consider the rebates & discounts that AT&T gave me for one of our latest Blackberry 8800. I feel better knowing that I didn't waste the money spent on the Treo when I switched to Blackberry.
When choosing a provider, look at the additional feature cost for adding Blackberry Internet Services (this is needed for sending & receiving email).
