There is a fantastically easy and free solution to this.
Sign up on yahoo.co.uk for email. As part of this you get a calendar function, which can import and export to both palm and outlook (using csv for outlook.)
All is clearly explained on the calendar feature, press the options button and go to import / export
Have just done it and finally got my old Palm appointments into Outlook.
I found some software that really does make this a two minute job. It is called Pocket Copy and is available at at www.chapura.com and runs about $25. I just tried it and it works with calendar, contacts, tasks and notes. So simple.
Here is how I exported my Palm Tungsten E calendar to Outlook 2003.
I opened a Yahoo account. I went to the calendar. In the upper right corner is an "Option" button. (not the Autosync!). Click on the management option. Click on the 2nd choice listed. This opens up a regular interface engine converting Palm files to Yahoo and from Yahoo to Outlook. The common format between the two is csv and handled in Excel.
Once I found out how this works, it took only a few minutes to convert a calendar with over 12k entries.
