The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Event ID 3005 Exchange 2003 in FE/BE environment

Asked by wpstech in Handhelds and PDAs, Server Side Includes (SSI), Exchange Email Server

Tags: 3005, event, id, exchange

Environment:
Windows 2003 Active Directory Exchange 2003 - with Front End and Back End servers with ssl on FE
Environment works great for clients and OWA users.   Last April two users got treo 700's - worked great until August.   Suddenly the devices stopped working with 0x85910014 error on the treo side
and server side error.
Category - None
Event ID - 3005

Description - Unexpected Exchange mailbox Server error: Server:
[server.domain.local] User: [user@domain.co.nz] HTTP status code:
[501]. Verify that the Exchange mailbox Server is working correctly.

The solution is to have a front end server! according to microsoft support.microsoft.com/kb/817379

But we already have one and no clue to why it suddenly stopped being a solution and now is part of the problem.

So I have applied all sorts of solutions including creating a new virtual directory for non ssl traffic but these solutions NEVER say which server to apply them to - I have been applying them to the FE since that is where the errors appear and the level they are not getting past.

so I have been messing around with this for a month and no solution.   Treo's still display the same error.
I have one more "ideas" on my desk - found in various threads - to delete the users mail box (we are talking administrators with thousands of email messages (a week before school starts) bad enough the treos don't work - now I have to take the only way they can get their email out of service - not a popular solution -  and I would like to avoid it - it seems drastic - the solution to fix an email problem is to delete the email??

What I would like is to understand the problem enough to fix it - so I don't put anyone to any unnecessary bother usually if I can get the error to budge I can narrow in on it.

I have tried:

ON THE FE

and
http://www.mail-archive.com/exchange@intm-dl.sparklist.com/msg18583.html

ON BOTH

Nothing

I appreciate any suggestions you can offer
