Environment

    * BlackBerry® Enterprise Server software version 4.1.4 to 4.1.6 for Microsoft® Exchange
    * BlackBerry® Professional Software 4.1.4
    * SDR120882

Overview
To allow or deny read receipts for BlackBerry smartphone users, complete the following steps:

Warning: The following procedure involves modifying the computer registry. This can cause substantial damage to the Windows® operating system. Document and back up the registry entries prior to implementing any changes.

   1. On the computer that is hosting the BlackBerry Messaging Agent, start the Registry Editor.
   2. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Research In Motion\BlackBerry Enterprise Server\Agents.
   3. Right-click the folder.
   4. Highlight New.
   5. Click DWORD Value.
   6. Type SuppressReadReceipts.
   7. Press Enter.
   8. Right-click the SuppressReadReceipts registry key.
   9. Click Modify.
  10. Select the Decimal option.
  11. Perform one of the following actions:
          * Type 2 to prevent BlackBerry smartphone users from sending read receipt messages.
          * Type 0 to allow BlackBerry smartphone users to send read receipt messages.
  12. Click OK.
  13. Restart the BlackBerry Controller.

      Important: Restarting certain BlackBerry Enterprise Server services will delay message delivery to BlackBerry smartphones. For more information, see KB04789.

First of all I am missing the registry key in HKLM ,it only exists in HKCU.

I've created a key called SuppressReadReceipts changed it's values but it has no effect.

Why this is hapenning? How come the registry keys for BES are not where they should be ?

Is it the fact that the registry keys are in HKCU that this trick doesnt work ?

Thanks for the help

HKCU only works the account you are logged in.

I suggest you follow the KB .. assume you have BES 4.1.4 to 4.1.6 for Microsoft Exchange

I've contacted Blackberry support.

They suggested I should reinstall as my registry might be corrupt.There should be entries in HKLM

I want to create a second server so I can move users but I need a second SRP.

Will using the same SRP cause problems ?

I'm using a SQL 2005 database

Re-installation solved my issues !

Registry was missing for HKLM.

I also switched from 64 bit Windows 2003 to 32 bit that was probably the issue (Blackberry doesn't support officially 64x for version 4.x)

KB trick works fine now as all the hives are present.

Thanks
