Hi,
I connected a Palm Zire 72 to a new laptop via Bluetooth and am able to HotSync. Problem is everytime I connect via Bluetooth, it is necessary to entering a pairing code on the laptop. Is there any way to have Vista/Bluetooth remember the device and let it connect?
I have installed all updates available from Palm for the Zire 72 and Palm Desktop.

There is only one Palm device listed under Bluetooth. Perhaps the problem is that I don't know the actual pairing code for the device. Windows lets me make one up when it sees the Palm trying to connect. Then I have to enter the same code on the Palm as well. I should have mentioned that minor detail before.
Is the code listed somewhere in the Palm OS?
I've experienced a similar problem with a Windows device and the problem was fixed by both devices have the option set to be seen by other devices in Bluetooth (visible) with no auto disconnect/timeout.
we had a user trying to use their phone as a 3G modem and it kept disconnecting itself and needing re-pairing........

Hmm...by 'pairing code', do you mean that 4 digit number that acts effectively as a security code to make sure nobody connects to your device without your permission?
If so, then it seems like the Bluetooth stack is not saving pairing data, or it is recognizing the Palm as a separate device each time it syncs. Check the list of Bluetooth devices to find out which.
If the former is your problem, just try reinstalling your Bluetooth drivers.
If the latter is your problem, or if you only see one entry for the Palm, then (again) try reinstalling the drivers, although that probably won't work.
