multiple IMAP email  Slowing down Outlook 2003

i have 4 IMAP email set-up on my outlook 2003 and it seems that the IMAP email is really slowing down the outlook product.

this happens with both of the following set-ups:

Outlook 2003 sp3/vista home premium sp2
outlook 2003 sp3/xp pro sp3


i am on a 18mbs connection with internet with consistant speeds of 16.5mbs download, so i wouldnt think it should really have an issue with staying up to date.

when i had the same email previously set up as POP3, it was instantaneous with no crashing of the outlook, but is constantly freezing, slowing, and/or crashing now with the IMAP setup.

my current email check times are 1 minute with 5min 10sec time out selected.

similar, i have also done the same with my nokia e90 and turned all my pop3 email to IMAP and have noticed it to slow as well.



any help is appreciated.
