Laptop not booting

Hi,
I have compaq presario v3029au bought 2 years before and warranty period is already over. Its sometime booting and sometimes not, it glows the power LEDs, but there is no display. One thing, i observed is when i switch on power adapter, it starts automatically without turning on the laptop's ON button.
What could be the issue?
