Vista Office 2007 hangs on file save

Vista Office 2007 locks on file/open/save/save as
I have Vista Ultimate installed on an Acer TravelMate C300, 2GB memory, 120GB disk.  In Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, whenever I select the Open Files dialog box to select from a list, or choose save to save a new document the first time, or choose save as to save an existing document as a new file name, or Attach File in Outlook, Office 2007 will not show the files in the dialog box, nor will it allow typing in a new file name.  Any click on the dialog box shows the "waiting" circle with "not responding" in the application window.  I have to bail out of the application completely.  Also, when trying to print anything from an open Internet Explorer tab, the print dialog box opens with no printers and no other information, goes to "not responding" when clicked on, then bails out.  I have Vista Ultimate and Office 2007 on my desktop PC with only 1GB of memory, yet I experience none of these problems.  I find nothing on Microsoft's Web site about this and nothing about it doing a Google search.  All the Vista and Office 2007 diagnostics report no problems with memory, disk space, or any other function these diagnostics examine.  It appears it might be a file-locking problem or a file access problem, although I am logged into Vista with full administrative rights.

What is going on to cause this and what is the resolution to it?

Tried that - still no luck.  By the way, I have several times left the Not Responding dialog box open for a long time just to see if it will evenually populate the files listing, but it never does.

Yes, only in Office 2007 products.  My copy of Vista Ultimate and Office 2007 is genuine (passed the online tests, too).  I also have Acrobat Pro on here.  Could that be a problem?
