The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

lap top memory. vista / compatibility / best brand / speeds ?

hey guys,

I have a Toshiba Satellite L45 laptop with windows vista, a 1.6 Intel dual core processor and 1gig of ram. After having my computer for a week, I feel its incredibly slow. I doubt its a virus since i just got it so im asuming windows vista jsut runs alot slower than xp.

Could this be becasue my processor speed or memory is low? Or have others said the same thing about Vista?

Either way, I am deciding to upgrade to higher memory by getting a 2 gig memory stick. I just want to know how and where are the best place to get this?

I would prefer using newegg.com but would you guys recommend another place? Also, what brand should I be looking to get. I probably want to get the fastest and best brand 2 gig stick out in the market.

This is my current memory stick I have
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Samsung-512MB-DDR2-2R-PC2-5300S-555-12-A3/dp/B000Q8FBYQ

I was looking into getting something like this
http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=2030260381+1309121116+1309221140&name=DDR2+800+(PC2+6400)

Those seem like the top 2 gig sticks on newegg but I'm not sure about those brand names. And I'm not sure if they would be compatible with my laptop or system. is there anything faster or better?

You let me know guys.
I put my laptop speed in the hands of the EE Gurus.
Thanks much in advance.
take care
