try removing the battery and starting it without the battery. you will have to have it plugged into the wall of course

by: chilternPCPosted on 2008-02-02 at 15:13:25ID: 20806414

take the battery out and wait a few minutes.  put it back.
retry the laptop

by: XconPosted on 2008-02-02 at 15:33:39ID: 20806476

reseat the battery.

by: chilternPCPosted on 2008-02-03 at 01:55:56ID: 20808324

then also try holding in the power button for 10 seconds - to force a hard power off. then retry switching it on  (I've got a hp pavillion laptop and it as all kind of weird manners like this)

by: nobusPosted on 2008-02-03 at 03:40:50ID: 20808474

ok - try this : power down your laptop, remove battery and AC
now hold the power button for 10 sec
put in AC or battery, and test

i have removed the battery and connect the power cable to the wall source
but the problem still and computer does not work

try taking the memory out and reseating it. on the bottom the laptop there should be a small compartment with a screw, on some chasis there is a small picture of a memory module. have you made any changes to laptop recently, hardware wise, upgrading memory etc.

by: chilternPCPosted on 2008-02-03 at 13:42:17ID: 20810421

ok - when you power on press <f8> and try and bring up the menu that includes the option for sfe mode - use the arrow keys and choose "VGA mode" and see what happens

by: nobusPosted on 2008-02-03 at 23:32:49ID: 20812521

did you try my suggestion?
you can also try with disk and cd drive removed

by: galsogoorPosted on 2008-02-05 at 10:28:18ID: 20825405

i have tried all abov selution but did not work

cbmm:
i am not sure because i hear fan sound but the screen is black so i can not know if it is posting or not

nobus:
could you explain more , i did not understand what u mean

by: XconPosted on 2008-02-05 at 10:30:48ID: 20825435

have you tried to reseat the video card? also try the memory as cbmm recommended

by: chilternPCPosted on 2008-02-05 at 11:24:22ID: 20825956

to recap - the screen is off ALL the time? no HP BIOS text? no windows loading logo?

could be the switch when you close the lid - try cleaning (hoover) dust and stuff away from this micro switch. maybe its stuck.

this IS a laptop? so the grpahics card is integral. and can't be reseated.

by: XconPosted on 2008-02-05 at 11:26:03ID: 20825974

that isn't true. I have an alienware laptop and I can reseat my video card as much as I want to.

by: chilternPCPosted on 2008-02-05 at 11:30:11ID: 20826021

I thought it was a HP Pavalion dv6000  laptop?

by: chilternPCPosted on 2008-02-05 at 11:34:58ID: 20826058

galsogoor,  if you have a PC monitor plug it into the external VGA socket and set the output to LCD  (from memory its press the function key Fn and one ofthe <F1-10> keys) until something appears on the external monitor
this will see if its the laptop screen that is gone.

by: XconPosted on 2008-02-05 at 11:36:34ID: 20826070

it is but you said that it is a "laptop" so therefore you cannot reseat the video card because it is "integral". I was just correcting you that just because it is a laptop doesn't mean you cannot reseat the video card. Not all laptops are as proprietary as HP's. In fact not even all HP's are like that. Anyway this isn't about our disagreement.

by: XconPosted on 2008-02-05 at 11:37:26ID: 20826081

that is a very good idea by chilternPC.

by: cbmmPosted on 2008-02-05 at 12:53:15ID: 20826807

i would say to my customer at this point bring the laptop into my shop for repair, some offices have hardware to diagnose the problem and wont charge you. i dont charge for a problem like this, only if i fix it, which of course is left up to the customer. you might have a bad motherboard, which you will never determine from this site, only on a bench

by: nobusPosted on 2008-02-05 at 23:34:38ID: 20830192

you remove disk and cd drive, and extra ram(everything that canbe removed) then try to boot; you should get a screen at least
