BIOS Locked

I have a Dell Latitude D820, the bios is locked with an administrator password so I can view the BIOS but not edit. How can I unlock it?

There is likely to be a jumper on the mainboard that you can short to remove the password.  You might want to search Dells website for the exact model and details.
Ouch...how did you lock it?  if its from crashing while updating the Bios, I'm afraid you may have to get another mother board.  If its from an unknown pass word, there are jumpers/switches on the keyboard that you can try to reset.
another thing you could do is install Linux and it will reset everything and then you could re-install windows.
You should talk with your IT / Admin to unlock that for you.
and the last advice I can offer if you don't need the software is If you have exhausted . . . obtain a "boot and nuke", start computer,  Key autonuke at the splash and press enter. In an hour or so, you will have an empty hdd. No password, no os, no data, no partition, nothing. Load it up with your favorites. Then add new Bios D820_A07 from dell.com dated 6/26/07 unless there is one more updated.
I don't his administrator would want him going into his Bios...and that's that same reason I don't think dell will give it to him if its company owned.  Only thing he can really do is find a hack site or re-install and re-configure everything...Good luck...
Now, it seems the manufacturer has set a password for your BIOS so that you may not change your BIOS settings accidently. i think its common. where you able to change BIOS settings before? If yes then someone might have changed/set  password for BIOS. ask your admin or the persons who use it other than you. I don't think you can reset your BIOS in laptop. Generally BIOS is notebooks/laptops are readonly because of the fact they can't be reset easily. you need open the notebook/laptop to reset it by means of a jumper, battery, etc. try this link. it might help or call Dell support
