The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

HP Pavilion laptop stops charging after a while

Asked by usurpingwolf in PC Laptops, Power Supplies / UPS

Once again this is a problem with my new HP Pavilion dv6000 laptop.

I bought it in December 07, has 2gb ram and core duo 2ghz processor running Windows Vista.

My laptop was charging fine for about 2 months but now when i plug in the AC charger it will charge for about 45 minutes and then with no warning or reason whether in sleep mode, off or on it will stop charging and the blue lcd charging light will turn off and the blue light around the place where the power chord and the laptop connect turns off.

I haven't dropped the laptop or done anything to the power chord or port that would be of any problem.

It gets stranger in that once it has stopped charging if i unplug it and plug it back in it will not work anymore, if I unplug it and plug it into another slot on the power board it will not work but if I change the power outlet ie. I connect it to a wall socket somewhere else in the house it will start charging again but then the problem repeats. This is not always true in that sometimes even when I change to another wall socket it won't charge and I have to hop around to the different slots till i find one that does. This is the same at my other house which suggests it is not the wiring or anything to do with the particular place I am in.

Any help would be much appreciatedStart Free Trial
