HP laptop specs - how to find on HP's website?

I bought a new HP laptop, actually on Ebay, and want to make sure that the laptop specs are the same as the seller advertised. I have the serial number, but can't find a place where I can enter it and see exactly what the original specs where.... I know I can do it for my Dells on Dell's support site, but does anyone know where I can find it on HP's site?

By the way, I want to do this without opening the product seal, so i would like to do it by serial number and not by turning on the computer and checking the specs myself.
