The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Display issue with a T61 in a docking station

I did some reading and I haven't found anything that directly addresses my problem.  There were some good ideas to try and resolve my issues, but it looks like I"ll need to ask a new question.

Problem #1
I'm having trouble with the display settings on a T61.  If I have the laptop undocked, I can get the resolution of 1400 x 1080.  If I dock it, the resolution automatically becomes 1024 x 768 on both the laptop and the monitor (Samsung SyncMaster 225BW).  I use the presentation manager and create a new profile with the correct settings I want and I get an error message that reads....

"The following settings you have selected cannot be applied properly.  Change the setting and try again.  Notebook LCD Resolution Color Quality

Problem #2
Failing to get the correct resolution using the analog connection, I try using the digital.  I switch the input on the monitor to digital and it shows the "no input signal" until I plug it up to the docking station.  When I try to switch my display to the monitor, nothing happens.  The monitor detects that it's connected to something, but I can't get anything to display.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.  This has been bugging me for two weeks now.

Ray
