Wireless is off and I downloaded from the Dell website their Broadband Diagnostics.

Owner says he has never been able to connect a cable and connect to the internet. On system diagnostics shows card is good. When cable plugged in it says no network cable installed, have tried several. Installed new driver and bios.
Reset TCIP stack and winsock. Wireless works fine.
Any thoughts?

So the status of the wired card should be "no connection", or "waiting for connection", or something like that. And the diagnostics on the card are OK.
The only thing I can think of is to loopback the ethernet connection and see if it shows a connection. It obviously won't have any internet, but the "no connection" should go away.

OK .. so we can track things down, why don't you disable the wireless connection and make sure the wired connection is enabled. I'm wondering what you meant by running diagnostics and the card is fine? How did you determine that? What did you run for diagnostics?
