acer + vista

Hi,

due to a black-out an acer 5920G the vista (home premium) is all messed up.
Can't connect to internet, can't get a restore point, and some other problems, among which I believe a virus, or malware as well.

Lots of services are out of service, meaning they don't work, or cannot be restored.
Also it does get vey hot.

I tried a system restore, and that's not possible either.

I tried to format, and recover from the recovery (alt+F10) and even here I encounter a problem:
The screen that comes up when doing the alt+F10 is like this (translating from Italian):

Windows start-up modifying options for: windows vista
path:\windows\system32\winload.exe
partitions:2
hard disk: 3a23ceae
[/noexecute = optin                                   ]
enter=send                                       exc=cancel

Hitting enter would boot, and hitting esc would take me to another screen, which has two options:
1 boot vista
2 memory test

Of course no recovery disk was made the first time ever!

Any way to solve this issue, besides buying a new vista?

Hmmm without the recovery disk. All I can think to try is to borrow or buy a copy of vista to try and repair your version.

You sound like it's clear you need a new fresh instalation.
If you have a guarantee, contact immediately your seller and send him the machine noticing
him that make you a backup of data on har disc. If your guarantee expired you have and you
already divided your hard disc into two partitions, then it's easy, just crash down vista with a
new installation and old one will be replaced while data preserved.
If you have all in one partition, then it's tricky. Best would be to go to shop where you bought it
and ask if they could backup your hard drive before you make a new installation and don't
forget to make two partitions, one for OS and other for data.

Thanks for the replies.

I've already backed-up the data, that's not an issue, the issue is to reinstall vista.
I tried with the recovery disk of another laptop, but it wants ITS disk

You got to find the way to crush prevoius installation, either by installation tool or maybe Hirens Boot CD
because as long as you have old vista, it will came with described problem.
