I suggest you Lenovo ThinkPad X ot T series. Is not cheap but is incredible reliable and performant. I have one (a little old series V) and i'm very satisfied with it.

Browse All TopicsI am thinking of getting a new laptop when windows 7 comes out. I primarily use a desktop so this will probably just be used to remote into a better computer.
Can anyone give me some advice on something good to get? I think that it is stupid to spend a lot since even the cheap ones are probably faster than what I am using now. I really also don't care too much about hard drive or optional drives. I really just want something to use that isn't too small to get work done on. I tried a netbook (some really small hp) and it was just too small.
Thanks

If you want to get something at a good price, you can maybe show on ebay for last year's models. Another option, try buying refurbished (these are the ones that had any flaw and were returned, the part replaced but now they cannot sell as new) .... try this site:

There really is nothing that is good and cheap. In this scenario what is good would depend mostly as to what is acceptable good for you so it is very subjective. You have 3 parameters in your request: good, cheap and not too small.
I would suggest to find the minimum size you would be happy with so we can eliminate this varialble, then decide the maximum price you are willing to pay for the size of the laptop you want. That is going to be the best one for you. As far as brands: Dell, HP and Sony.... most of the rest are non-brands or much more expensive to comply with your parameters.
The decision will be based on the size to begin with, then the price......each manufacturer will be of equal quality as far as what you get for what you pay for.
