Urgently.. Toshiba Satellite A10 - S513

Hi friends,

I have a chance to buy a Labtop model TOSHIBA SATELLITE A10 - S513,  but i tried to find it or its specs on Toshiba website but couldn't find it, all i found were just few sites in other languages (not english) about it and I can't understand it. can anyone help me find it in English, and where it is made, and its specs.. urgently

Thanks a lot, but do you think it is a good labtop for home office use in comparison with HP Pavelion Ze5639EA (P4 2.8 Ghz) and IBM P4 / G40
 
Ignore the difference in speed

Prices as follow:
Toshiba = 1295 $
HP         = 1440 $
IBM        = 1375 $

please give me a full recommendation and advice

The IBM will fine for all your needs, it has a p4 2.6 CPU and 256mb of DDR. Combo drive so you can back up to CDs and play CD/DVDs, 3 hours battery life and a floppy disk drive. This is compared to the 2.2 CPU and external FDD the Toshiba comes with and 2.6 hours battery life, also I'd place money on IBM being more robustly built. I can't find any details on the HP machine you've listed there (I think the code you have is for a custom spec that you have specified?) but the IBM machine will do everything you want to and do it well and at a cheaper price.

Really any 3 of those machines will serve for home office use as they all offer similar specs but if I had to pick one I'd go with the IBM machine, the company I work for sold quite a few of these and very few had hardware problems. It's a better spec than the Toshiba machine without being that much more expensive as well.

Great but I think the toshiba too has combo drive, may be lighter in weight and has a touch pad pointer.. and I think it is for hard use but I don't know where it is manufactured

I'm afraid that link doesn't work, I would gather that you have specified a custom spec. for the HP machine, only you will be able to view it.

Weight and touchpad are secondary on the basis that you specified the laptop to be used for Home and Office use, weight isn't that important if you're not using it on the move that much and a mouse is preferable to any touchpad, again not an issue if you're using it primarily in the office or home.

If you're wondering where the Toshiba notebook is manufactured, then I don't have access to Toshiba's database to find out what chassis it's based on but I'd bet you good money it's Taiwan...

Basically all the specs of the machine's are comparable, you pay extra in each case for a faster CPU. I don't have any experience with HP or Toshiba notebooks but I can vouch that the IBM machines I have supported were well made. If a touchpad is an important feature then I would choose the HP machine, the Toshiba's 2.2GHz CPU is a touch too slow although it will run applications fine, if you consider the cost of upgrading a notebook it's best to get the best spec for your money at the point of purchase giving you a little more future proofing.
