Acer Laptop Fails To Power Up - LED Flashes Eight Times
I have an Acer laptop which is failing to power on. When you hold the power button (either with just battery power or plugged into the mains) the battery LED just flashes orange 8 times then nothing happens. I have tried everything I can think of but no change. Power adapter is fine.

Any idea what the 8 flashes mean? I've looked on the internet but cannot find a list of error codes for LED flashes anywhere.
Any other ideas?

I've dismantled it as much as I can but can't see anything obviously wrong. It wasn't dropped or anything before breaking it just turned off whilst in use.

Any help appreciated

you can try these :
- try to boot from battery alone, or AC alone
-without battery, or AC, hold the power button for 30 sec, then reboot
-disconnect disk, and cd drive, and test
-remove ram - any beeps ?

tried all those...no change
no beeps or anything even with no ram
just the eight light flashes :-(

I had an Aspire 3500 which was giving me the 8 orange LED flashes. I disconnected charger, held power for about 30 secs. Re-Connected charger and it turned on. Bit strange but perhaps it was a power issue, needed to discharge or something?

same trouble. my acer is an aspire 3003LCI
tried the 30 seconds trick and nothing.
it still flashes 8 times.
no idea where to go since Acer don't have support service here.
