My Battery will not charge at all

I have a Toshiba Satellite A70 Laptop.  I just put in a Brand New Motherboard and also i Brand new Ac adapter.  The batter still will not charge.  This Computer works really good with the AC adapter plugged in. When i turn on the computer it and check the battery status, it says that the battery is charging but, its not.  It just stays on 53%. When i unplug the AC adapter and try to power up the computer, it will not come on at all.   When the Ac adapter is plug in, the battery light on the computer shows that its charging but its not. O and yeah, The battery is New as well.   So im wondering would i be a chance that ive just got a defective battery and prolly need to order another one.

There is circuitry in batteries themselves and it may be defective, and with a new motherboard(not used I presume) there should be little possibility that the power regulation parts on the motherboard are effected.
Make sure the contact points on the battery and where they touch the motherboard are clean and not broken, and the battery is well seated.
Dang!  What happened to your laptop that required you to replace the motherboard AND the AC Adapter AND the battery?   Was the replacement motherboard new or used?
If you still have your original battery, try it with that.  If it works and charges (and holds the charge, at least for a little while), then I'd say your new battery is probably defective.  Hopefully, you can RMA it and get a replacement.
