how to install Windows xp pro on Gateway MX6956 laptop
Hi there,
I have a Gateway MX6956 Laptop and am trying to format and re-install windows. I don't have the restore cd that came with the laptop so don't ask about that. I just have a windows xp pro cd which i booted from and i have found that it doesn't find that SATA drive without a SATA controller driver, so I press F6 when the installation cd starts up and press S for a driver and load the driver from the website on a floppy. It copies the driver and finds the harddrive. I format that drive and right after that it asks for the driver off the floppy again but this time it doesn't let me press enter to accept it. It just gets stuck at that point. Does anyone know how to get this machine to not get stuck at this point. Thanks
Mike

Hey its a New sony external floppy usb drive that im using and i have tried a few disks and still no go. I downloaded the driver off the website so i have no idea if its the latest.
You may need to use a PS2 mouse, or no other USB devices attached except the floppy drive !
I hope this helps !
