Hello GMorris215,

Very simple suggestion: Contact HP on this, they've been using this lock tool for quite some time it's used to protect the data on the disk from tampering. It's not something that can be gotten around easely.
HP might charge some money to get the data back, but most likely it's cheaper than loosing the data.

Regards,

LucF

hi there
it not that hard to remove it .
buy a software from spotmau at www.spotmau.com
boot your pc from the the cd and from the cd options you can remove any password .even the harddisk and bios ones
it will cost you around 10 dollars but it is usefull for life long .
or contact HP - it is a lenghty process - you have to proove them that you are the owner .

Hey Azhar 81...I took a look at spotmau....and it does not say anything about hard drive lock pw's...can you link where it says it will do this?

One thing with HDD locked drives is USUALLY you can't boot to a CD, Floppy etc....the hard drive comes up and asks for a pw before it can boot up off anything.

i recommend the following for you -- please read FAQ for laptops section -
http://www.hddunlock.com/drives/toshiba/   --- your hdd is listed here

Interesting info Azhar!

One thing to note....it looks like if you run the HDD unlocker tool it will format and scrub the drive.  So realize your data may not be intact if you use this tool.
But it is great!  if you need to unlock the drive and make it useable again.

Oh Azhar i could have used that years ago! hehe...Read my post above to my oldddd hdd lock question!
