Browse All TopicsHello,
I have an acer aspire 5720g and recently its just been shutting off by itself... i figure its overheating esp after i installed hard disk sentinel and it showed me the temp at 48 degrees C before it shut off again.
Hard disk sentinel also found 3 bad sectors and told me its remapping them.. no action from my side is required, it looks like the heating issue is destroying my main components in the laptop :((
Can someone help me to kill this overheating issue? the comp worked for over a year without a problem and its pretty good for the price... now i have this damn problem and dont know what to do.
I have no problems opening it and doing things as you guide me, but i must warn you i have no idea how laptops look on the inside-this was my first laptop.
Please help, thanks in advance!

48C degress - thats not overheating - thhats normal, so download UBCD, burn it to disc and boot laptop from this CD and test main components (hdd, ram, cpu...).
Also you mentioned that hard drive have bad sectors, so faulty hard drive could be problem.
In this case remove hard drive (its under laptop, small doors on bottom case), then download and burn to cd any linux (for example ubuntu), boot from cd and look does it shuts down in time or not.
Also could be faulty AC adapter, so look does laptop after some time not running only on battery.
you can monitor the cpu temperature with speedfan : http://www.almico.com/spee

Get a can of air and blow into the fans that are used to exhaust the heat, they may be clogged causing the overheating issues.
