Alternative to Sony Laptop
I am interested in the following laptop:
http://www.sonystyle.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?catalogId=10551&storeId=10151&langId=-1&partNumber=VGNCS390JCR
But can you recommend any other laptop from Hp/DELL that will be equivalent to this Sony's specs. The price is little above budget, and trying to see alternatives. Of course, what was cool about the Sony was the colors and look. but I do not mind letting it go, if I can get a better overall bargain for a good system.
Some of the specifics preferred are:
Dual Core
Better battery life if possible (instead of 1/2 hours etc). Sony promises 6.
video camera
Do laptops come with 10k Hard drives? More generous the space the better.
2-4 GB Ram.
Any personal recommendations from experience will also be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

PS: If your laptop gets hardware problems, you call Asus assistance in your country and they'll pick you up for you and after repairing, they'll deliver it to you :) its the best assistance you can get as well.
@demazter
Expensive + you get better@toshiba or asus for lower prices ;)
Plus, quite ugly!
HP for servers only :p

I used to use toshiba about 6 years ago and had nothing but problems with them, I probably sell 200+ HP laptops every year and have never had a single problem other than one that had a faulty powerpack.
I use a HP laptop for my photography (small lightweight aluminium can't remember the model number 12.1" screen) I also use an HP laptop for business which has a 9.5 hour batter life.
I highly recommend them, I would rather pay $150 more for an HP than get a toshiba
ASUS are normally around the same price and the cheaper ones are normally very bulky and very poor batter life

tiagorferreira,
The model #s you gave me are for Europe. Are you able to tell me the equivalent in US, so I can check their prices etc.
You said Toshiba looks are good. what colors do they come in?

any good word on sony, other than looks?
Not had very good experiences with Sony I don't find them very reliable and in fact I tend to replace a lot with HP ;-)
If that's your budget, I would go for something like: http://h10010.www1.hp.com/wwpc/us/en/sm/WF06b/321957-321957-64295-3929941-3955552-3974409-4006142-4014958.html

Hello again sirs
I have nothing against HP, i just don't like it alot, it does not fullfil me!
They can perform, and they're very reliable.
$859.99A505-S6965 - From toshiba, that would be my choice.
Processor
Intel® Core"2 Duo Processor P7350
Memory
4GB DDR2 800MHz memory
Hard Drive
500GB HDD (5400rpm)

Yeah acer is a good choice if you don't expect to buy a top nocht material.
Acer is surely the best in price/quality matter, yet, i've seen too many delivering their souls to jesus!

It's mainly the screen size, processor and mainboard chipset that make the difference in price.
I would probably favour the 4310s
Both can be upgraded to 8GB of RAM

Acer are bulky that is why they are cheaper because they don't need to have specialist components made.
The higher price ones are the nice looking $1000+ machines.
Also bettery life on an Acer is **SHOCKING** at best!

Never to forget, Acer assistance is also rubbish.
Takes forever to repair.
