If the computer is hot, the screen will go black because it turns off. Is that your problem?
Your computer could be having a fatal error (BSOD) and the 'blue flash' is so quick that you don't notice it (happens often). There's a problem with the touchscreen (for models using XP in particular) that causes Windows to "blue screen of death" which has been addressed by this BIOS update.
If you have XP, it's shutting off and it only happens when you use the touchscreen, give it a shot.
Additionally, I know you may discount this because you don't see a BSOD, but keep in mind that by default, the system will shut itself off immediately after a fatal error and its often so quick that many people don't notice it.
Next, if your computer is still running, but the LCD stays dark, you may have a different problem. Let us know if your computer is still running after your screen goes dark or not. Just a total guess, but it may be an intermittent issue with your LCD panel backlight which is exaggerated by touching the screen. There are other explanations as well.
