Browse All TopicsI have done a decent amount of research myself, to know that I can make my own "dongle" for my 3Com Megahertz LAN 10/100 CardBus PCMCIA card for my laptop. the model is 3CCFE575BT. I have managed to desolder a Ethernet port off of a LAN card i do not use and hooked the 4 'full duplex' wires up to that port. The next step in my project is to solder those four wires directly to the card its self. now, i know the basics, the card does have the transformer, so it is not in the dongle like some manufacturers have done. What i need now is for a bit of help, in determining what pins on the card go to which twisted pair of wires. I do not have an ohm meter to test with so i have been trying to find a pin guide for my card and have been unable to do so. if there is someone out there that is able to find one that will tell me what wires from the ethernet cable go to which pin on the card, that's all I'm asking for. alternatively if someone has a dongle and can test it to find out the wireing and pin arrangements that will work too.

Take a look at the pin assignment on a t568A (RJ45 pin assignment). http://www.utm.edu/staff/l
wolfhere, i know that there are 8 wires but for simple lan, only four is needed (or thats what i have read) to send and receive data. even if there are more wires needed, thats not an issue as long as i can figure out what pins on the card go to what wires in the ethernet. i know i can get a new card and a new dongle but im not going that route as of now.
