No Sound Dell D830
The sound on my D830 stopped working. When I look in Device manager there are no issues and it says everything is working properly but I have no sound. If I look under control panel, sound and devices properties everything is grayed out. I have uninstalled and re installed the drivers with no luck
I am guessing you are using headphones with mini-adapter. Try USB headphones and see if you also have a problem. The laptop is two to three years old so it could be a bad connection if you use it a lot.

Just using the PC speakers, if I look under control panel, sound and devices properties everything is grayed out. There is no Playback device and can't select anything as it is grayed out. If I look in device manager under sound, video, and game controllers everything looks OK
PC speakers would be same solution as the headphones. Likely hardware related. Just to test use either headphones with mini-jack or usb to try a different playback source.

I will test tomorrow and let you know

Try remove off the devices which are causing the issue.
Then shut down the system.
On boot up the devices will be reloaded. Try that out it may help.
