Deleating Windows 98

About 5 years ago, I purchased a IBM Aptiva. My wife recently gave me a scanner for a gift. Since the scanner would not work with the version of Windows 95 that I had, I purchased and installed Windows 98. Maybe I do not have enough computer for Windows 98. The computer is now so slow that I hate it. I would like to get completely rid of Windows 98 and go back to Windows 95 like I had before. The scanner can stay in the box until I buy another computer. How do I completely get rid of Windows 98?
