Problem: Recorded CDR plays on only 19 out of 20 PCs. Why failing only one some?

I created about 40 CDRs and they work fine on MOST people's computers.
However, on 2 computers the CD starts installing and then gives a corrupt installation error (in one case) or reports that the drive isn't responding and thinks it's a network drive.

I'm using a Sony Spressa CDU 948S (external, SCSI connection) on Windows 95C with 166 Mhz Pentium, with 96 MB RAM)
CDs record fine, using Adaptec EZ CD Creator Deluxe (version 3.5C)
Ideas I've considered:

1. Label we put on the CD isn't perfectly centered, making the CD wobble. Only some drives are fast enough to make it wobble enough. (One of the 2 problem PCs is 4 months old, the other is several years old, so not sure if that's the problem)

2. I'm using the wrong settings on the CD creator software.
(I have it set to "reorder files for maximum creation speed"). That should be fine, per the help file

3. CD drive is just plain too fast to read my 2x speed recorded CDR.

4. CD player is really a DVD player and won't read the CDR. (Some DVD players don't support CDRs, per info I've read on the web). I'M INVESTIGATING this one further.

Any other ideas as to what's wrong?
And, how would I test for that problem and how would I fix it?
