Browse All TopicsI friend has a house wired with cat5 and the cable is to carry Ethernet and phone signals on the same cat5 cable. I told him that it is not a good idea to have phone and network on the same cat5 cable because of crosstalk he would not achieve 100 Mb/s.
Another friend said I was incorrect and Cat-5 only has to do with the number of twists in the cable and no crosstalk would occur and 100 Mb/s could be achieved with Ethernet and phone on the same cable.
Who is correct, Internet links that support either side would be helpful. This is not a question about DSL, it is a question about good old analog phone line and ethernet on the same cat5 cable.
