With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. Did I ruin my hard drive?

I attempted to install Windows 2000 on my hard drive that had Window 98 already on it. I wanted to have them both on the same hard drive and choose to boot to either one. Well I started to install win2000 but it said I needed to partion the drive. Used Partion Magic and also used it's boot manager. Well after partioning the drive with PM I restarted the computer to finish the win2000 install. I now get a message that there is no valid system disk, I booted with a floppy to get to DOS but cannot not see my hard drive at all. Is there something that could have happened in that mess with the boot sector of the drive that now the hard drive is ruined?? (BIOS still recognizes it.)
