Floppy Problems

Not so long ago I took my computer apart to fiddle around with it, and when I put it back together something was wrong with my floppy drive. Everytime I put a disk in, it always ask my to reformat it, even though I know there's something already on it. I asked someone and they said it could be the device drivers. So I removed the floppy device drivers from the system properties window, hoping it would reinstall the correct ones after I restarted the computer but unfortunately it didn't work, and now my floppy drive doesn't work at all. How do I fix this problem?
