Another important difference is that CRT monitors can run at different frequencies. To avoid flickering at resolutions shown at <=60Hz (vertical), you could display the same resolution at a higher frequency (>=75Hz, depending on the quality of both the monitor and the VGA card).
LCD monitors run at 60Hz (I think they all do). However, since illuminating pixels die out relatively slow, to won't see any flickering. It may have a disadvantage in fast games though.
(More expensive) LCD monitors MAY have additional features, like a rotating screen: you could adjust your screen from landscape to portrait.

LG is the name of a company who may (or may not) produce CRT and/or LCD monitors. CRT means "cathode ray tube"--e.g. the normal bulky glass-fronted monitors you're probably familiar with. LCD monitors are Liquid Crystal Displays, which are much thinner and lighter than CRTs but have a fixed resolution (e.g. I have a 15" LCD monitor at home which has a resolution of 1024x768).
