Well I took a look at the manual online from Dell, all it has in an integrated modem telephony connector. I do not think you can do this with the system you're using, sorry. Now, if you wanted the system to "wake up" from suspend mode, then that should be doable from the modem's properties in XP device manager (start/run/devmgmt.msc<ent

well suspend mode is fine enough for me i guess.
would u recomend any software that will allow me to put the modem on wake mode and wait for incomming calls..
let me tell my requirements so that you might have a better solution.
I have a pc which is connected to the phone line thru the internal modem. i want the machine to boot up when the phone rings and if possible execute a script/program. It is not required for the phone call to be answered. i just need the phone call as a trigger..... sorry if the requirement sounds too wierd :(
whether the machine boots up or wakes from suspend mode it does not matter.
thanks for your help.
Hmm, what is the goal in running a program/script? If you're just trying to keep track of when the phone rings, most call management software can track that...I don't know of any offhand, but check at www.download.com for Telephony applications.

What is the model? Most Dell laptops have this function. If its not there, I don't think there are many options...that's what you get buying an OEM system I suppose. If the motherboard has a WOR header, if you get a modem with a WOR output then it may work regardless. Try updating your BIOS from http://support.dell.com
