Browse All TopicsI'm looking for as much information as possible on how the controllers for mass storage ( >= 100MB ) devices (for PCs) function. Especially helpful would be information pertaining to how each type of controller operates and interfaces between the CPU and device (in general, not for a specific model of controller). Examples of devices would be tape drives, hard drives, CD burners, zip drives and memory sticks. Examples of the controllers would be USB, IDE/ATA, ISA and SCSI.
Earlier today I spent a few hours browsing around hard drive manufacturer sites looking for info on how their IDE controllers function, but couldn't find anything. Any ideas for how to go about finding this information would be useful as well. (i.e. - "Using ___ as a keyword on the manufacturer's site search should turn up what you're looking for.")
