The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. Silent & Affordable CPU FAN ?

My system: AMD Athlon TBird 1 Gig, ECS K7S5A v1.0 Mobo, 256 Megs DDR ECC Ram (soon to be 512 MB), Hitachi GD-7000 DVDROM, Geforce2 GTS videocard, Adaptech AHA-2940UW SCSI Adapter, 9 gig Internal SCSI HDD, 40 Gig IDE HDD, SBLive 5.1 soundcard, builtin ethernet adapter, Internal ZIP100 drive, Windows 2000 Pro, 1280x1024x32bit resolution.  My system can, at times, be running for days on end mostly doing Kazaa/eMule transferring.

The machine is just too loud.  I've pinpointed the sound to be coming from the CPU Fan.  Can someone recommend a silent, effective, but affordable CPU Fan for my system.  I dont mind if the fan is audible as long as it isnt irritatingly loud while the chasis panels are in place.  I live in Toronto and would like to pay no more than $15 Canadian for such a unit.  No fancy do-dats are necessary as long as it cools down the CPU and is quiet about it.
