However recently i dial up and everything seems fine but then when i go to do anything my computer tells me that i have a problem with y internet browser settings, i have checked and am definitely not workin offline and so i dont know what the problem is!? Also when i try to go into winmx it tells me it could not open a tcp\ip port for listening. Is this anything to do with the problem?!

Hello,

1) Try updating your Internet Explorer.

2.) You can also try changing your Internet setting and resetting your web settings.

So go to My Computer>>control Panel>> Internet Options >> Internet Properties.

Once there you have to go to ' Programs ', the click on reset Websettings, a Box will pop up.
Uncheck 'Also reset my home page ', click on Yes.

3.) Go to My Computer>>control Panel>> Internet Options >> Internet Properties.
Under the 'Security Tab ',  select everything ( Internet, Local interanet, Trusted sites, Restricted sites)  one
at a time and hit Default button each time to set everything to normal Windows Default settings.

Try going to the internet now.

4.) You can also try to dial out to a phone or cell Phone to check that your Modem is dialing out properly.

Go to Start >>Programs>>Accessories>>Phone dialer and dial out to a phone ( different from your Modem line.)
If the phone you are dialing to, rings, then your phone line connection should be ok.

Hope this helps.

Have you gone into "tools>internet options>connections". Is your dialup account listed there?

simonhebditch,
Try these two fixes to see if you access the Internet. They involved registering some DLL files and syncronize some.

try going to control panel>add remove programs look in the list for microsoft internet explorer highlight it click remove the select the repair option in the box that pops up you will have to restart your computer when this is finished. If this does not fix the problem check and see if you have a proxy server setup up in your internet explorer properties.

You probably have a Malware/Adware program installed on your machine (sounds like new.net to me!) that is causing this to happen, or your DNS settings are messed up (which is another nice thing new.net does to you).  Try to get here: http://129.217.143.253/~su1669/spybotsd12.exe

Download if possible and run.  If it won't work on your PC, use the one you're posting from and go to:
http://www.security.kolla.de/index.php?lang=en&page=download and click one of the blue Download links. Save to a CD-R or something (or use WinZip to zip it to ~3 floppy discs with spanning)

Be sure to click the "Check for Updates" option and "Download Updates".
