How to recover deleted Partition data with partion and FAT information: Thanks in advance to your time
Hi,
Recently while rebuilding our server we deleted other partitions accidentaly. It is NTFS format. Later we used File Scavenger 2.1 to recover the data. We didn't know how hard drives were configured earlier. May be it was one full volume of 4 drives. We recovered 17GB of data. it shows all the files and folders and displays correct file size. But we can't open any files nor run program files. It looks like we lost partition table information. Please advice me, Are these data recoverable?. We re-created the partition and deleted couple of times on one of the drive. We don't have backup of some of the folders. We need to restore that data. It is very important for us. Is there any company which provides hardware level restore. I appriciate your great help. Please email me to maddurshiv@hotmail.com

After you enter DiskEditor, the first thing you should do would be to choose the logical disk you want do recover. That would be D:
Then, try to see the Partition Table. In View, you should check the Partition Table format. The partition table is in the first sectors of the disk.
There is room for 4 partitions only. All you should need to do was to select the partition type, and the start and end cylinders / tracks / heads from 0 to the full extent.
Before you make any changes, please do a backup of the sectors you're using.
Also, before any changes can be applied, you need to change the Read-Only setting in the Configuration Menu.
If it was a full volume of 4 drives, I guess things are more difficult.
And if DISKEDIT does not see logical disks but physical disks only, things set even more difficult.
I do not know how to proceed, by heart. (I do not have access to Norton Utilities / System Works.)
If you have access to an identical system, you can check what is the data on the partition table of the first disk and try to replicate.
Do not despair. There still are some other possibilities.

If you are running Server 2000, (This is feature is not available in Server 2003) there is a tool that you can use within windows Server/2000 to recover the deleted partition. Insert your Server 2000 disk. In the Server disk open (If auto play launch, close it) and go to "Support" then "Tools" run the "DSKPROBE.exe" based on the size of the partition that you are trying to recover it takes a bit of time. It may prompt you to click "OK" (Work around, rather than sit there and push "OK" a million times, find somting to lay on the "Enter" key. Best of luck!

To Recover a Deleted NTFS Volume
1. Re-create the exact same volume but choose not to format it. This may be difficult if you do not remember the exact size you had created originally, especially because the Disk Management snap-in tends to round partition sizes.
2. Using Dskprobe.exe, recover the backup boot sector for the NTFS volume from the end of the volume. Because it is a dynamic volume you may need to use Dmdiag.exe to help find the backup boot sector, or search for it by using Dskprobe.exe (on the Tools menu, click Search Sectors).
3. After rewriting the NTFS boot sector, quit Dskprobe.
4. In Disk Management, click Rescan Disks on the Action menu. This should mount the volume for immediate use.

Here's some tools to recover your partition, but as far as you said, there's nothing YOU can do. You need a specialized lab to do that.
Yes, there are lots of, but it will cost you. And depends on the area where you live. I'd suggest to go find one such lab and don't mess-up with your hard drive anymore.
