another thing is, I plugged an external burner and rebooted, but the burner was not detected. I scanned for hardware changes on device manager but it is still not shown. is there any problem with the burner? or is it because my OS allows for only one optic disk burner even though they are for two different types of disks (int one is for CD and ext one is for DVD)?

Hi freshair,
Basically, 32-bit Windows Xp recognizes up to 4GB of memory but the actual amount of memory that a system supports is determined by the chipset of motherboard. (e.g. intel 845 chipset supports up to 2GB only) So, just make sure ur system can support that extra 1.5GB that you gonna put in, then just simply plug it in~ When you boot up your system will detect it and reflect it on the screen.
With the USB2 PCI card, just plug it in and install the required driver.
With the burner problem, i think its because u didn't install the driver for the burner. So, the OS couldnt recognize it. Just install the driver according to the manual and you should be able to get rid of the problem.
