The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. CPU Fan stops when running graphic-intense applications?????

OK, this problem is really starting to get to me......

My Mobo is a Gigabyte 7NNXP with dual-power system attached.  My CPU is a Athlon XP 2500+ and I've got a 380 watt power supply. Those are the most notible features.

The problem is, whenever I run a application or game that uses the video card even moderately, the CPU fan stops for about half a second..... but it does this a lot, maybe every 5-10 seconds. I can hear it slowing down and I had to turn off the CPU Fan alarm in BIOS as it was beeping tooooo much!

This started happening about 1 month ago and I had made no hardware changes.

I recently bought a new video card thinking that the old one might have been causing this problem  (cause the prob only occurred when the system used it) but I'm still having the same problem with the new vid card.

I haven't tried a new power supply yet as I'm not keen on spending more money on something that doesn't need replacing!

Has anyone else ever experienced this problem before?? I think the problem is either due to the power supply itself failing or the dual power supply on the mobo....

Please Help!!!
