Browse All TopicsI just ordered parts and built a new computer. The system uses a G7N400-L gigabyte motherboard, 1 gig of corsair pc 3200 ram, athlon xp 2600 with barton core @ 333mhz fsb, 40gb 7200 rpm 2mb cache hdd, 350 watt approved PS, and geforce ti4200 graphics card.
I had some trouble getting the pc to boot up at first; it wouldn't post, so i rebuilt the system in case of a short or a wire that wasn't connected. I have all cpu jumpers set to auto, the system (when it booted) detected all of the ram and a 2600+ xp processor. I was able to load windows xp pro (although it did crash to the garbled screen once during install) and then begin setting up my devices. About 15 minutes after I got into windows, the system locked up and became a garbled screen, then shut itself down. After that shutdown I have not been able to boot up since. The post code is one long and two short. I have tried slower memory and also underclocking my processor. What could be keeping me from booting/running stable?
