I have a Compaq Desktop PC (Pressario 7360). I need to install a wireless network card that needs an empty PCI slot. How do I check that my PC has an empty PCI slot?

The short and not as accurate answer is to look at the back of the machine and see if one of the vertical openings has a blank metal tab (no connectors on it). The more thorough answer is to open up the case, take the cover off and see if there are any empty white connectors available (see the vertical white slotted things in this picture - http://www.newegg.com/app/
The USB is better is several ways, such as ease to connect, disconnect, or move to another computer. Also (like mentioned) you can place the USB in better location to prevent signal blockage or interference. The speed difference is not noticable unless you do experience blocked signal or interference and then the USB would be better.

Open it up and look at the mobo. If you see a white slot that is empty it should work.
