I think you need to reinstall your video driver.

Browse All TopicsHi,
I have the latest version of winamp installed on XP PRO. As I drag the winamp window around the screen it is leaving trails. But only ontop of other windows it doesn't leave onything behind when I move around ontop of the desktop. I'm basically seeing a hunderd instaces of winamp for a few seconds then they go away. Winamp is by far the worst but other windows will also leave a trail.
I posted this in hardware because it seems to me like the video card can't update the position of the window fast enough.
The system is a home built computer, ASROCK mobo with a S3 integrated Video that is using 32MB of shared memory.
1GHz Duron
768MB DDR RAM
ATA133 HDD
XP PRO SP1

A virus would not cause this. As Callandor said, its almost certainly a video driver issue.
Is this your motherboard: http://www.asrockamerica.c
If so, the latest drivers are probably these:
http://downloads.viaarena.
If that isn't your board...please find out which one it is (model) or at least the model of the video (just look in the Display control panel, it should say "S3 ProSavage...." or similar. If not, go here:

Download the WinS3ID.exe program and run it, let us know what model/chip it says you have.

32 MB for video is not much, you have loads of ram try giving your video card as much memory as possible, 64 or 128 would be ideal.
